The purpose of the appeal is to verify that the selection procedure has been applied correclty and in accordance with the principles communicated to the candidate and that no error has been made while processing the candidate's application.
At the end of each step of the selection procedure (1. eligibility decision, 2. assessment of qualifications, 3. interview) the candidate will have the possibility to appeal against the decisions of the SMART EMJD Selection Committee (SC). The SMART secretariat, on behalf of the Selection Committee, will be in charge of informing the applicants via e-mail about the outcome of the Selection Committee decisions immediately after each step of the procedure. This e-mail will also indicate the deadline for any appeal submission.
The appeal letter contains:
- The applicant’s personal data
- A short summary of the reason for the appeal (5 lines)
- A detailed description of the situation
- Supporting documentation, if any.
The Appeal Form is available in the download box.
Appeals must be sent via e-mail to the SMART Secretariat as pdf files (duly dated and signed); the subject of the e-mail must read “APPEAL SMART EMJD + the surname of the candidate”.
Once the Appeal letters have been received, they will be reviewed by the SMART Co-ordinating Team (composed of the Selection committee plus the administrator of the co-ordinating institution). The SMART Secretariat will send an e-mail to the applicant within five working days of the review by the Smart Co-ordinating Team stating the outcome of the appeal and the reasons for rejecting/accepting it.
